ITB-Renovated Kokolo, a floating luxury hotel

The boat ITB Kokolo was officially inaugurated Saturday, February 7 in Kinshasa after two years of rehabilitation work.

The Head of State inaugurated this great ship, which had stopped traffic from April 1996. This boat had been operating for years between Kinshasa-Kisangani-Kinshasa on the Congo (former Zaire) river under Mobutu regime.

The renovated building is intended for the transportation of passengers and cargo on the Congo River, on the axis-Kinshasa Kisangani via Mbandaka, Lisala, Bumba and Basoko.

The opening of the ITB Kokolo will improve inland navigation.

In addition it can carry 422 passengers, plus crew, two family suites, and 9 cold rooms, this convoy, with 1,586 tons of total capacity loads / goods equivalent to about 40 cars Railway 40 tones, nearly 4 trains train, or 53 semi trucks of 30 tons each.

The resumption of traffic by ITB Kokolo on the Congo River is expected to:

- The supply of urban populations in fresh agro-pastoral products
